Hostal Acemar Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hostal Acemar on Diecinueve de Octubre street, you immediately get that authentic Spanish coastal vibe that’s honestly hard to find in touristy Marbella. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a well-run hostal that knows exactly what it does best. The building has that classic Andalusian charm without any pretense, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that the owners actually care about their guests’ experience. What struck me most was how clean and welcoming everything felt, despite being more budget-friendly than the flashy hotels you’ll find closer to the marina.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re genuinely in the heart of Marbella without paying those ridiculous beachfront prices. The location consistently gets high marks from guests (8.7 rating), and honestly, I can see why. You’re walking distance to the old town’s narrow streets and those incredible tapas bars that locals actually frequent. The beach is close enough that you won’t need a taxi, but you’re also near the real Marbella where people live and work. Couples especially seem to appreciate this balance — they rated the location 8.4, probably because you get that romantic Spanish atmosphere without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble.
The Room Experience
The rooms at Hostal Acemar are exactly what you’d expect from a well-managed Spanish hostal — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Each room has everything you actually need without unnecessary frills that would just drive up the price. The beds are genuinely comfortable (which isn’t always a given at this price point), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it. Air conditioning works well during those hot Andalusian summers, and the windows actually open if you prefer fresh air. What I appreciated most was the attention to details — good lighting, enough outlets for your devices, and storage space that makes sense.
Continental Breakfast Done Right
The continental breakfast here is honestly better than what you’ll get at many pricier hotels in the area. They keep it simple but fresh — good coffee (which matters more than people realize), fresh bread, local jams, and enough variety to fuel your day exploring Marbella. You know what I really appreciated? They don’t try to do too much and end up doing everything poorly. Instead, they focus on quality basics that actually taste good. The breakfast area has a nice atmosphere too, where you can plan your day or chat with other travelers without feeling rushed.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
With a solid 7.7 overall rating, Hostal Acemar has figured out something important — consistency matters more than flashy amenities. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy helping guests discover the real Marbella, not just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots. You’re getting authentic Spanish hospitality at a price that won’t destroy your travel budget, which is increasingly rare in this part of the Costa del Sol. For travelers who want to experience Marbella’s charm without paying resort prices, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

Excellent location in the old town of San Pedro. Lovely little street. Fantastic staff at the front desk. The supermarket in the lobby, that stays open 24/7 filled with soft drinks/alcohol/food and whatever you need. Comfortable bed and pillows. Very clean throughout the room. Nice size tv for the room. The small balcony overlooking the cute San Pedro street. Good AC/heater in the room.

Good location, friendly staff and sea view room balcony on 4th floor was great. Room was large and facilities basic but functional. Handy having a 24 hour shop at the bottom of the building! Would recommend.
Marion from United Kingdom (7/10)
Great location Close to restaurants and shops and 25 min walk to beach. Lovely clean and comfy beds. They supplied soap and shower gel, but no loo roll. Fortunately as the shop was open it wasn't a problem.
Isabel from Australia (7/10)
The place was inaccessible a good area, no far from the central part of town but to far from the beach for a traveller without a car
