The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa, Benahavis, Marbella Overview
First Impressions
Driving up to The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa, Benahavis, Marbella, you immediately understand why couples rate this place so highly — it’s tucked into the hills above Marbella with views that honestly made me stop and stare. This five-star property sits in Nueva Andalucía, which locals call the “Golden Triangle,” and you’re surrounded by some of the most prestigious golf courses on the Costa del Sol. The lobby feels grand but not stuffy, with that signature Westin white tea scent that somehow makes everything feel more serene.
Location & Setting
What I love about this spot is how it strikes the perfect balance — you’re in the mountains but only about 10 minutes from Puerto Banús if you want to hit the beach or do some serious shopping. The hotel sits right on La Quinta Golf Course, so if you’re into golf, you’ll wake up to fairways outside your window. Even if you’re not a golfer (like me), the setting is pretty spectacular with those Andalusian hills rolling out in every direction. The shuttle service to the beach is actually reliable, which isn’t always a given at mountain resorts.
The Room Experience
I have to say, the beds here really do live up to the hype — I’m usually a light sleeper, but I slept like a rock every night. The room have that clean, modern Westin aesthetic with touches of Spanish style, and most come with either golf course or mountain views. The bathrooms are spacious with separate tubs and showers, which is perfect after a day of exploring. You know what surprised me? The soundproofing is excellent, so even though there’s activity around the resort, your room stays peaceful.
Dining & Amenities
Breakfast here is honestly one of the better hotel spreads I’ve experienced — they do everything from continental to full English, plus there’s an American section and a proper buffet setup. The spa is worth mentioning too; it’s not huge, but the treatments incorporate local olive oil and the relaxation areas have those mountain views. There’s also a really nice pool area that doesn’t feel overcrowded, even during peak season. The parking situation is stress-free since it’s private and included, which saves you the headache of finding spots in this area.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What makes this place work is how it manages to feel both sophisticated and relaxed — you can dress up for dinner or wander around in resort wear without feeling out of place. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well and can point you toward hidden gems in Benahavís (the village has some incredible restaurants, by the way). It’s the kind of place where couples come for anniversaries or special occasions, but it doesn’t feel so formal that you can’t just enjoy a lazy afternoon by the pool. The combination of that mountain setting, solid service, and easy access to both golf and beaches makes it pretty hard to beat in this part of Spain.
The concierge service in Marbella arranges private yacht brunches, vineyard safaris, and flamenco masterclasses in historic patios.
